Li Ai Hua

tea farmer

How long have you been growing tea and what got your started?
I have worked with tea for 25 years. I loved tea when I was a little girl. It was my dream to become a tea farmer.

Can you describe a typical day out in the field?
Normally I get up at 7 and go out working after breakfast. I will finish plucking around 2pm.

What is your favorite part of growing tea?
I love my hometown. It is a famous tea area. It is beautiful in the tea garden. I love plucking in this beautiful place.

Conversely, what is the hardest part of your job?
Jun Shan Yin Zhen is made with the first spring tender buds. So I need to work carefully when picking up the delicate buds. I hate to hurt the buds.

Are there any tips you can give on how to best brew your tea?
Suggest to use 3 grams of tea in a big glass cup. The hot water temperature is about 80-85 degrees celsius. You will see the beautiful buds dancing in the cup when you pour in the hot water.
